Mixed Martial Arts or MMA is a method of practice that focuses on strengthening all aspects of hand-to-hand defense and offense by training a combination of grappling and striking arts. It has gained world wide popularity through competitions such as Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Bellator. MMA utilizes practice in both striking and grappling arts so as to encompass a well rounded style of fighting. Grappling which is a category for arts such as wrestling and judo that greatly focus on the take down offense/defense and ground focused arts such as Brazilian jiu-jitsu and submission wrestling. On the other end of the spectrum you have your striking arts such as boxing , Muay Thai , kickboxing etc… Training the transitions between these two aspects is crucial.
